Future Homes Standard
Future-ready thinking.
From the first drawing.
Coordinate the fabric, heating, ventilation and renewable energy strategy early, with an assessment route confirmed for your project.
Start with the complete energy strategy.
Future Homes Standard preparation is a design coordination task as well as a calculation task. The dwelling’s fabric, glazing, building services and renewables need to be considered together.
Ordellis can review your proposed new-build information, confirm the relevant regulatory and methodology basis, and agree the calculations and reporting needed for the project.
What to bring into the conversation.
- The application route, programme and any relevant transitional arrangements.
- Wall, roof and floor specifications, junction details and airtightness assumptions.
- Heating, hot water, ventilation and renewable energy proposals.
- Glazing, shading and the overheating assessment route.
- The evidence that will be needed for the completion assessment.
SAP 10.2 and SAP 10.3.
GOV.UK identifies SAP 10.3 as the approved methodology available for the Future Homes Standard. The method used for a particular development still needs to be confirmed against its applicable requirements and transitional arrangements.
A comparison between assessment versions should use a clearly documented dwelling and specification. It should identify the assessment basis and any changed inputs, rather than presenting an unverified improvement figure.
Regulatory guidance can change. Confirm the requirements for your application with the project’s building control team and the current official guidance.
